Thanks! Learning that boss for the first time was a nightmare for me. It was only when I learned the quick kills (namely phase 2) is where it got better. Otherwise I'd have lots of annoying hits/deaths.

As shown at the end of the video, if you lose your lives, the game will throw you back to the start screen. It is still possible to gain extra lives, especially since the world loops forever if you survive long enough.

Thank you, it was a stressful one to learn. I did this for an achievement on RetroAchievements, trying to score over 6million points which required the no death to begin with. I actually had to do it twice as I didn't achieve the score first time around, which is why you see me waiting around the first boss of the final stage, grabbing points until I accidently destroyed it. Proud of this one as it was one of my fav shoot 'em ups from my childhood. I'll have to do another one of these live on Twitch for fun. I'll announce at some point.

Haha I feel that. I also like the game quite a bit, but me and a friend had a lot of fun spotting LOADS of issues about the game's hitboxes in the early days. Apparently it's better now with the hitboxes, but I'll be replaying soon to see for myself.

The whole Smashpack was an interesting ride for MegaDrive's sound emulation. Considering I've seen all these games as a child, couldn't help but laugh at all the comparisons to these games. Especially this game because my lord the differences are really something.

Spot on. The way I have been causally going through the og game with no problems whatsoever, then this version comes up. 2006 was a great year for Sonic.

Definitely watch this space as I'll do all three titans again, except with perfect parries.

No, I do not have that version anymore.

Those hours are for this achievement alone. Speedran through the set before I noticed this cheevo and left it for ages as I knew it'd be miserable. Finally decided to do it and it was a crap two weeks. Longest I've spent on a cheevo.

You should be able to do so with the latest update - you can randomize tracks for the grand prix and they should show up every now and then (including the DLC tracks if you've purchased)

@Nevanos ah ok I'm playing the Switch version, so I didn't immediately realize the DLC or update. Maybe it hasn't come to console yet, or my copy was still not fully updated before I started playing the game. Any advice or tips (or possibly videos) for getting all the unlockables?

Nowadays I can go pickup any old WAD like this and enjoy it for what it is, no matter the quality. How age can form perspective.
